Weekend Update

Oh where does the weekend go? One day it's Friday afternoon, the next thing you know it is Sunday evening!

On Saturday I had a very long lunch with another old friend from high school. She was in town visiting and me and another long lost friend were able to get together. We talked and talked. There was never any of the hesitancy or awkwardness even though it's been almost 15 years since we've all been together. It was nice. We are all determined to make the effort to keep in touch.

Today, Sunday, I wanted to do something but it was SO HOT!!! So as I was driving around town, randomly, trying to figure out what to do, I called one of my friends up hoping that she had some type of plan for the day that would help inspire me. Instead we ended up going to the fresh vegetable/fruit stand, sushi for lunch, and then a very long trip around town trying to find a new gelato place. She thought it was on one end of town and I thought it was on the other end. I was right! LOL! But of course only after we had ridden all over!

Once again, another weekend gone and no progress on cleaning was done!!! However, this upcoming weekend is a long holiday weekend and I have absolutely no plans. Most people I know are going to be out of town. Me, on the other hand, am going to spend it cleaning, stitching, and spending some quality time with my pooch, Duke. Duke is feeling quite neglected these days!

I hope to have a post soon on some updates on the projects I have been stitching on!

National Champions!!!!

I have spent the last 12 days watching the College World Series. I have watched most of the games and ALL of the LSU games. I have spent the last 3 nights on the edge of my seat, watching and waiting for LSU to win their SIXTH championship! Tonight they did that! Winning 11 to 4 against University of Texas! GEAUX TIGERS!

Back from Florida

I am back from my convention in Florida. It went very well, I believe. At least I was praised by most that it was a success. This is the view from my balcony. Isn't it beautiful? On Saturday evening I watched a beach wedding. How sweet!

Next door to the hotel was the Gulfarium. All I can say is that it's no Sea World!!!!

It was VERY hot in Florida. So hot that I only managed an hour on the beach on Friday. And in that short of time, with SPF 30 lotion slathered on, I still managed to get burned!!! Saturday, after going to the Gulfarium, I managed to spend another hour out by the pool but that was between 4 pm and 5 pm. I've never been to the beach when it was so hot you were miserable. There wasn't even a cool ocean breeze!!! But I got some beach time in and it just makes me want more!
Now I'm back home, I've picked Duke back up from the vet, and I am preparing to watch the College World Series! Geaux Tigers!

Corks N Canvas

We have a new place in town that lets you get together with friends, enjoy some wine and paint a picture. Every month they put out a calendar of the paintings that are available and then you just pick the day/painting you want to do.

I went with some friends/co-workers tonight. We had fun and will definitely do it again! The painting we were doing was a fleur-de-lis. This is how mine came out:

The Kiss

This weekend, while watching the College World Series (Geaux Tigers!), I picked up Mirabilia's The Kiss to stitch. I can't even remember the last time I had touched this project. Needless to say, it had been so long, it had collected dust! So I stitched away on it this weekend. It has a TON of kreinik threads which makes it tedious. Also, all the empty spots on the dress, that is where beading will go. There seems to be a LOT of beading. But it is a quick stitch.

Tonight is another LSU baseball game. We take on Arkansas. I have every confidence that we will win! I'm just not sure what project I will stitch on! I also need to do some packing as I leave this week for a convention in Florida! Yippee!!!

Mid Week Update

Page 5 COMPLETED!!! YAY! Now that only leaves 11 more pages to complete!

Thankfully the week is half way over. Only two more days of work! Right now I am looking forward to the weekend. No big plans, just don't have to go to work!!! LSU does play on Saturday in the CWS. Next week I have a convention in Florida so I am hoping to get out by the pool again so I can get some more sun and plus it's free so I can save money for the trip.
I am so enjoying my new car! I actually like to drive places now! Today as I was leaving work I saw a truck that was using a whisk as an antennae for the radio. Yes, it is true. I wish I could have gotten a picture of it. It was one of the funniest things I've ever seen!

Summer Day

Today was just one of those good summer days! I woke up this morning and headed to the pool for an hour of solitude. I sat on the side of the pool with my legs and feet in the cool water as I read my book for about an hour. I tend to go to the pool in the mornings to avoid the little kids and the college kids.

Then I picked up a friend of mine and we had lunch then ventured off to our local zoo. I hadn't been in years and she had never been. It was nice to wander around for a few hours and look at the animals. We got to see a giraffe very up close! His tongue looked like a giant slug!!! We enjoyed strawberry sno-cones which I must confess I ended up with all over my white t-shirt. I just seemed to have a problem finding my mouth! But that's ok, I enjoyed every minute of it and my friend? Well, she laughed at me and then in the next minute spilled her sno-cone on herself too! LOL!!!!

Since we were in a part of town that we RARELY ever go to, we decided to make the most out of it and visit the Dairy Queen out there. From where we live, the Dairy Queen is about 20 to 30 minutes away. So we both went and indulged in some ice cream goodness!

It was just an overall great day! Left a smile on my face!

Update on Stitching

Hi ya'll! It is a beautiful summer day here and I just spent a few hours out on my balcony soaking up some sun and reading Demon Mistress. Yep, I finished it! :) But I still have two more books to read!!!

Here are my updates on Dragon Knot 2 and Holly! I stitched mostly on Dragon Knot 2 this week but got in a day of stitching on Holly!
Now off I go to watch game #2 of the LSU-Rice Super Regional. LSU has already game 1 and just needs one more to go to Omaha! Geaux Tigers!

Trip to the Book Store

After work today I headed to the book store to get the 2nd book of the Sookie Stackhouse series, Living Dead in Dallas. I walk in and head to the Romance section which is where I typically buy my paranormal romance novels. I couldn't find ONE Charlaine Harris book. But while looking I found the next book in two series that I do read. So I picked up Demon Mistress by Yasmine Galenorn and Never Been Witched by Annette Blair. I was disappointed I couldn't find the Charlaine Harris book but took a lap around the book store anyway. I finally found the book in Sci Fi! Yep, they had it categorized as Sci Fi. This wasn't a book store that I typically get my books at but oh well, at least I found it! So I came out of the book store with not just one book, but THREE books for some good summer reading by the pool!

Dead Until Dark

Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris is the first book of the Sookie Stackhouse novels. These are the same novels that the HBO series True Blood is based on. Now I have only seen the 1st 3 episodes of True Blood and what I saw, well, really didn't impress me. I'm not sure if it was the writing or the actors. But I couldn't get hooked on it. I do have it on my Netflix rotation to see the entire 1st season but that's kind of down the road.

I did pick up the first novel, Dead Until Dark. It is the same storyline as the television series with a few differences. There are some characters in the tv series not in the book and vice versa. I have to say that I really did enjoy the book A LOT more than the tv series. I'm very much looking forward to picking up the second book!

My suggestion, if you didn't like the tv series, try the book.
