Back from vacation...

You have to love the Blogger app. Sitting here getting a pedicure but also multitasking.

I've been back a week from vacation Nd oh how I wish I could go back!!

I had a great 9 day visiting with my family. Lots of time with the grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

One night I had the chance to get together with 5 of my cousins for sushi. It is a rare thing for that many of us to get together at once.

I caught up on a bunch of movies. First was World War Z. I am NOT a zombie person nor is Brad Pitt one of my favorite actors. But this movie surprised me and I really enjoyed it. The ending was kind of anticlimactic though. Next was Despicable Me. Yes, I'm a couple of years behind. It was a cute fluff movie. Then I saw Heat. It was funny. Lots of F-bombs though. The last was Star Trek. Yep, I'm a Trekkie. The movie was good but predictable.

Attended the college World Series home run derby with my Uncle. That is always fun. Especially when followed up by a HUGE firework display.

Fourth of July was spent with family. Lots of food, water fights and fireworks!

One of my last night's there, my younger cousin took me for tacos, sweet bread (pastries) and ice cream. Sounds innocent enough, right? Except that every place we went, the employees did not speak English! My Spanish is good enough for me to understand but not to speak to them. With my family, I can always respond in English!! Needless to say, those were REAL tacos!

I've been back to work for a week now. Settling back into a routine and very happy to be with my dog again!! But I could so use another vacation. It was nice to have a break from "reality", except that reality decided to sucker punch me when I arrived back!!

I'm Back....

From vacation!  It was so nice to get away.  2 whole days of absolutely nothing.  Sat by the pool, enjoyed drinks, read books, swam in the salt water pool, ran into old friends from home, good food.  It was an over all great time!!!

Here are some pics from the trip:

View of the pool area.  One of the 3 outdoor pools.  It was a salt water pool.

Blink of an eye

5 days went so quickly!  Blinked my eye and it was time to go!!!!  I had a great time in Corpus Christi visiting my grandparents.  I also got to see my Uncle Peter, Aunt Diane, Uncle Joe and Aunt Astrid.  Plus some other people who are distant cousins.

The weather was kind of nasty.  Cold. Overcast. Rainy.  I didn't get to go fishing although one day I did go with my grandfather to pick up ghost shrimp for bait.  That was "interesting".

The minute I arrived in Corpus I was whisked away for a cook out.  Barely had time to say hello before heading off to see a bunch of people I don't know.  Now for those who don't know me, I do not like to be around a lot of people I don't know.  Takes me way out of my comfort zone.  I was way outside of it!!!!! But my grandparents and my aunts and uncles were also there.  It was funny when I saw my Uncle Joe for the first time, in YEARS, he tells me "Girl!  You are WHITE!!"  Definite emphasis on the white.  LOL!  I can't help it!!!  The only thing I inherited from the mexican side was my dark curly hair, my big booty, and my love for the food!!!!  I just laugh it off!

I got to spend a lot of quality time with my grandparents.  It was nice especially since I didn't get to see that much of them back in May when I had gone home to visit! They have a nice one bedroom condo on one of the diversion canals.  Here's a picture from their balcony:

We did go down to the sea wall on Saturday for a walk.  I got to take pictures with my grandparents.  Aren't they cute?

On Sunday, we went to downtown Corpus Christi.  Went down to the harbor area.  Saw the statue and memorial to Selena.  For those not familiary with her, she was a tejano singer who was murdered by a fan at a very young age. She was from Corpus Christi and they STILL love her there.  We even went by her gravesite.  I know, totally touristy but interesting.  Her gravestone is a portrait of her.  Yep, I took pictures.

I have to admit that the best part of the vacation was to be "babied" by my grandparents.  I didn't have to take care of anything. They took care of everything. I didn't have to make any decisions or do anything but enjoy myself.  That was great.  Been a long time since I could do that! I'm thinking I need to find the time to visit family more often!

Let the Adventure Begin!

Tomorrow I head off to Omaha to see the family! I'm pretty excited since I haven't been there in about 10 years. My sister arrived today. She texted me earlier telling me that tomorrow is Thursday Taco day at the Forum! I asked what that was but she said she wasn't quite sure but Grandpa was really excited! So that is where I am heading the minute I get off the plane tomorrow, to Thursday Taco! LOL! Can't wait!

But before getting there I've already had adventures. First, I got off work an hour early so that I could finish packing and get Duke to the vet on time. Darn car wouldn't start. Dead as a doornail! Thank goodness Dad was off work and out. He swung by to pick me up and then back to his house to pick up Mom's car since she is already in Omaha. Darn thing is so dead you have to use the key to unlock all the doors cuz the switch on the inside does not work! I have no clue what is wrong. Dad said he'd look at it this weekend! Good thing I will be out of town!

Then I dropped Duke off at the vet. Poor baby. Not only is he being boarded for a week but he is also having his annual check up and a dental cleaning! Yep, he is not going to be a very happy doggy when I get home!

While I did get packed, I am going to have to repack because I threw everything into 2 suitcases with no rhyme or reason so that I could get back to my Dad's house for the evening because he wanted me to bring home dinner! I'm staying here because he is bringing me to the airport for 6:30 am! Yuck! Means we have to leave the house by 5:30! Boy, I hope I wake up! Good thing it's a two hour flight from New Orleans to Chicago. I can get a nap in!

But I am so ready to be on vacation! See the family. Eat some good food! I miss it all!
